The Nigerian Police Force has issued a statement on the viral video of some hoodlums attacking a Toyota Camry in Abuja.
Hoodlums descended on the vehicle with cudgels, large stones and other weapons as the driver attempted to make a u-turn and flee.
The video went viral on the micro-blogging platform on Thursday morning and created fear and tension not just across the country but the Federal Capital Territory in particular.
Some members of the public say the incident happened at the Lugbe area of Abuja while others including residents debunked such, claiming it was part of the attack at the Dei Dei market on Wednesday.
Reacting to the viral video and the ongoing comments on social media, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi took to his Twitter page on Thursday to state that the attack did not happen in the Lugbe area of Abuja.
He quoted the FCT Police Commissioner Babaji Sunday as saying that he is currently on patrol of the Lugbe-Airport road while assuring residents to remain calm and go about their normal activities without fear.
The statement however failed to identify the exact location of the incident which is generating much attention on social media.
According to Prince Olumuyiwa Adejobi, The attention of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, CP Babaji Sunday, has been drawn to a video making the rounds on social media platforms about an incident which is being credited to have happened in Lugbe, FCT Abuja.
The CP wishes to state categorically that there is no such incident in Lugbe as he is currently on patrol with operatives around the Lugbe-Airport Road axis.The CP urges all well-meaning members of Abuja Community to go about their lawful businesses as the police is on its toes to ensure safety of their lives and property.
