Police Storm Gay Wedding Party, Arrest 44 (Photos)

"Gist"

The police in the Nansana Municipality, Uganda have stormed a gay wedding party and arrested 44 persons for either participating or organising it.

Speaking on behalf of the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Luke Owoyesigyire said in a statement on the 31st of that it acted on a tip-off.

The informant revealed that a group of men suspected to be gay were attending a wedding at 780 zones, in Ochen Ward, Nansana Municipality.

According to the police, “At the same functions, gifts were recovered, these include suitcases, a tv, assorted gifts like sugar, salt, pineapples and many other gifts normally given at traditional functions.”

The also said that used and unused condoms were recovered at the venues. In addition, the suspects did not observe the Covid19 standard operating procedures including social distancing and wearing of masks.

 In all 44 suspects were arrested while Charles Twine of the Criminal Investigation Division said they would be charged to court for a “negligent act likely to spread infectious disease.”
