Police Takes Action on AK-47 Wielding Officer that Fired Shots at Ladipo Market

Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, has revealed that man in mufti, Istifanus Kwanchi, seen in a viral video, firing shots from an AK-47 has been identified as an officer serving with the mobile police and has been brought in for disciplinary actions.

On Tuesday, a October 17, a viral video showed a man firing shots with a sophisticated weapon in celebration of the reopening of Ladipo market in Lagos.

Reacting to the video, the Police Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi wrote: “This has been sent to the Lagos State command for necessary actions. We will identify the man with the AK47 and do the needful. Thanks.”

Confirming the identification of the man, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday, October 18, revealed that the man is an officer and has been brought in for disciplinary actions.

He wrote in a post on X saying, “The police officer in this video, Inspector Istifanus Kwanchi, serving with the Mobile Police (MOPOL), has been brought in for appropriate disciplinary actions.

#LagosPoliceNG condemns in its entirety all forms of unprofessional and unethical behaviour on the part of its officers and men; and will definitely bring to book anyone found culpable.”
