Popular South African rapper, Kiernan Forbes, popularly known as AKA was on Friday night shot dead on Florida Road.
According to reports by the police in Durban, the rapped was reportedly killed in a drive-by shooting on the Road.
Reports say that AKA was shot by persons in two cars around 10:00pm on Friday.
It was reported that AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in the drive-by shooting.
Another person believed to be the rapper’s bodyguard got injured, while an unknown person believed to be a close friend of AKA was also killed.
A spokesperson for the ALS Paramedics, Garrith Jamieson, said Florida Road had been closed off after the shooting incident.
Jamieson said amongst the deceased was a “famous rapper”.
At the time of filing this report, the identity of the second person killed in the attack is unknown, but he is understood to be a close friend of AKA.
Posts on social media claimed that AKA was due to perform at a Durban nightclub, YUGO, which is part of his birthday celebrations.
The rapper was born on the 28th of January, 1988 and raised in Cape Town.
