An aide to President Bola Tinubu has explained the Red, Blue, and White flag seen during his address, confirming it symbolizes his official roles.
Tinubu, in his recent national address, urged for immediate dialogue and an end to the widespread protests that have escalated since Thursday.
He stressed his administration’s readiness to engage with protesters, address their concerns, and tackle their grievances, affirming that their voices have been heard “loud and clear.”
During his address, viewers noticed a Red, Blue, and White flag positioned beside President Tinubu. The presence of the flag led to inquiries about its significance, especially as it deviated from the familiar Green, White, and Green Nigerian flag.
In response to the inquiries, an aide to the president replied the tweet that questioned the flag’s meaning. The aide stated:
“This is the Nigerian Armed Forces Flag which signifies he is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces as well as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
The aide’s explanation highlights that the flag displayed during the address is symbolic of Tinubu’s dual role as both the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and the President of Nigeria. This clarification aims to address any confusion about the flag’s representation and its alignment with his official capacities.
