The presidency has cleared the air on reports that President Muhammadu Buhari promised during the 2015 campaign that his administration would make the Naira equal the dollar.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesin described the promise as totally false.
He gave the statement when Channels Television hosted him on Sunday Politics yesterday, 28th March.
Adesina said, “It does not exist, it is fake, It is false, it is apocryphal, it doesn’t exist !”
@FemAdesina also spoke on promises made by the former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Vice President Atiku Abubakar administration which were not fulfilled.
Speaking on the high unemployment rate, he said that the past administration left very high rates as well.
Adesina blamed the country’s ailing economy on the global pandemic insisting that Nigeria is making progress even if is going slowly.
Nigerians are enraged at the denial insisting that in 2015, while campaigning for office, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted President Buhari during his campaign train under the All Progressive Congress (APC), to have promised to ensure that the Naira would be equal the dollar in value if voted into office.
He is said to have made the promise on Monday, March 23 during the South East presidential rally of APC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.
Auay Jokesomefun@Sunday_Akinjide·”I don’t know how Femi Adesina sleeps at night knowing that he’d lie the following day. It’s still a mystery to me.”
Ejiamatu@Ejiamatu001· “Listening to Femi Adesina can be depressing. The man lies with unmitigated equanimity.”
