President Buhari Appoints New Aides for Wife and First Lady, Aisha

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has has reshuffled the aides of the First Lady, his wife, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement released today, 7th June by presidential aide, Femi Adesina, the President approved the appointment of Dr Rukayyatu Abdulkareem Guri as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration and Women Affairs in the Office of the First Lady.

Also approved is the appointment of Dr Mohammed Kamal Abdulraham as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Health and Development Partners in the Office of the First Lady.

Abdulrahman also continues as Personal Physician to the First Lady.

Dr Guri holds a doctorate degree in Curriculum Instruction from the University of Maiduguri. Her career spans being a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri, a Director at the National Universities Commission (NUC) and a Director at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

Her last appointment before joining the First Lady’s team is as a Senior Lecturer at Base University, Abuja. She replaces Dr Hajo Sani who was recently appointed as Nigeria’s Delegate to the United Nations Educational and Scientific Organisation (UNESCO) in France.

Prior to being appointed as Personal Physician to the First Lady in 2015 and reappointed in 2019, Dr Abdulrahman comes with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Maiduguri. He worked at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Yola Specialist Hospital, Sithobela Health Centre in Swaziland and the National Agency for the Control of Aids (NACA).
