President Muhammadu Buhari has cancelled his planned 2 week medical trip to London, the United Kingdom (UK) and returned to Abuja.
He returned straight from Nairobi after his 2-day visit to attend the United Nations Environment Programme 50th Summit.
Buhari’s arrival was announced in a short statement on Twitter by his personal assistant on Digital and New Media, Bashir Ahmad.
According to Bashir Ahmad@BashirAhmaad· “President @MBuhari is back in Abuja.President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja, after his participation in the 50th Anniversary of the UN Environmental Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.“
This is contrary to an earlier statement released on President Buhari’s itinerary as Nigerians had earlier been told the country’s leader will take a medical trip to the United Kingdom after the Kenya event.
Ahmad did not give any further detail about the President’s movement and change in plans.
Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina had earlier said the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari would be attending the 50th Anniversary of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNDP), scheduled for 3rd – 4th March 2022 in Nairobi, Kenya
Adesina revealed that after the meeting in Kenya will travel to London, the United Kingdom for a 2-week medical checkup.
“From Kenya, President Buhari will proceed to London for routine medical checks that will last for a maximum of two weeks,” Adesina had said on Tuesday, March 1.
