President Buhari Meets with Freed Kankara School Boys (video)

President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the Kankara school boys in Katsina.

The President met them in company of the State Governor, Bello Masari and some senior federal and state government officials.

This comes a day after they were freed by their captors who kidnapped them from their school, the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.

Speaking in Hausa, President Buhari thanked all those who assisted in their release, particularly the military as well as the state and federal government officials.

· reports Mr President as saying: “My dear children, don’t be discouraged with what has happened, give your attention to acquiring knowledge and developing good character, and you will be distinguished in life”. –

Governor Masari described the efforts made by all security agents and government officials which facilitated the release of the school boys.

He added that security should be the responsibility of everyone and not just the government.

A total of 344 students were freed as confirmed by the governor. Boko Haram claimed responsibility for the abduction.

The sect has held sway in the North East with multiple attacks in more than a decade.
