President Muhammadu Buhari has named a major expressway in Abuja after the President of Niger Republic, Isouffou Mahammadu.
In a ceremony that took place on Tuesday the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Mohammed Bello told reporters that the gesture is in recognition of Issoufou Mahammadu’s “significant role in the promotion of peace in Africa..”
According to him, “Earlier today, the first phase of the on-going Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) in Abuja was named the Mahammadou Issoufou Expressway in honour of the President of the Republic of Niger, Mahammadou Issoufou.”
“The road was named after the Nigerian President by President Muhammadu Buhari as a mark of deep appreciation for the maintenance of brother relationship between Nigeria and the Republic of Niger and in recognition of the Nigerien President’s role in the promotion of peace in Africa.”
In his response, Issoufou appreciated President Buhari’s gesture which is proof of “the excellent relations that exist between #Nigeria and #Niger.”
