President Donald Trump and the First Lady of the United States (FLOTUS), Melania have contracted the dreaded covid19.

Trump made the announcement early Friday, 2nd of October morning in a tweet.

According to him, “Tonight, FLOTUS and I tested positive for covid19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER.

The development comes as he gets into the last stage of his campaign for re-election.

The president has continually flouted health guidelines with regards to safeguarding himself and his family from the highly infectious killer disease.

It is also reported that he doubts how dreadful the virus can be.

CNN reports that “the diagnosis amounts to the most serious known health threat to a sitting president in decades.”

The 74-year-old has all the health conditions including obesity that put him at high risk for major complications should the condition progress.

The news about Trump and FLOTUS contracting covid19 also poses a threat to an already unhealthy political atmosphere in the US. It has, in addition destabilised the American stock market.

Meanwhile, the President’s physician, Navy Cmdr D Sean Conely, wrote that “the president and First Lady are both well at this time and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.

Trump had announced on Thursday night that he would self isolate after one of his close aids, Hope Hicks tested positive to the disease.

Meanwhile, contract tracing has begun to stem the spread of the disease from the President.
