Notwithstanding the unrest and a series of attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in the Chibok town region, citizens still exercised their civic rights by voting for their preferred candidate in the 2023 presidential election held last Saturday in the Chibok Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State.
On the 14th of April 2014, no fewer than 276 teenage children, mostly Christian female students, were kidnapped by the dreaded terrorist group from the Government Girls Secondary School in the town of Chibok.
The sad event remains one of the most unforgettable terrorist attacks in Nigerian history. However, despite the continued unrest in the state caused by insurgents, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was still able to conduct elections in some parts of Borno.
The result of the 2023 presidential election from Chibok LGA as confirmed by the collation officer in the area, Prof Abdulrazak Raju show the APC in clear lead.
