Protests have rocked Ikorodu town following the alleged death of a man, Ejioye Omolola in police custody.
The deceased is said to have been arrested by the police on Sunday, the 2nd of May at about 8:00pm at the Ladega Area following the death of a commercial motorcyclist during a robbery incident.
Reports say that a team of policemen stormed the area while people fled in different directions. However, Omolola who was was with his girlfriend at the time was arrested.
He was thereafter detained until Tuesday, 4th of May after which his case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Pant, Adekunle, Lagos.
Family members’ efforts to secure Omolola’s release proved abortive. He was alleged to have died in police custody on the 7th of May following the intense torture he was subjected to by the officers on his case.
In a press release issued by his lawyer from the Yakubu Eleto Chambers on the 9th of May, family and friends requested his administrative bail to no avail.
