Political activist and former Young Progressives Party (YPP) vice presidential candidate, Umma Getso, has openly criticized the recent s*xual harassment allegations made by Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Getso branded the claims as politically engineered. In an interview cited by The Sun, she argued that the accusations appear to lack substantial proof and are suspiciously timed to spark public sympathy.

The politician highlighted that widespread support for Senator Natasha seems more emotional than factual. According to her, the growing disdain Nigerians harbor for Akpabio and the National Assembly has created a biased atmosphere where allegations are accepted without scrutiny. “It’s the collective dislike for Akpabio that makes Natasha look credible,” she remarked.
Diving deeper, Getso pointed to what she claims is a recurring pattern in Natasha’s political history previous misconduct claims against other men including her husband and public commentator Reno Omokri. This, she implied, weakens the senator’s credibility and raises doubts about the sincerity of the current claims.
She also voiced concerns about the broader implications for women in politics. Getso warned that repeated and unsubstantiated accusations from female leaders risk framing women as manipulative rather than committed to ethical leadership. Such narratives, she emphasized, could stall progress on gender representation and diminish trust in female politicians.
Standing firm amid backlash, Getso asserted that her perspective is grounded in both personal conviction and her understanding of the facts. She encouraged politicians to speak truthfully, even when such honesty invites controversy, stressing that political leadership requires both courage and clarity.
