Popular social media skit actor and comedian cum activist, Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni has lamented the apparent oppression of Igbos after thugs attacked them in Lagos for trying to obtain their permanent voter’s cards (PVC).
This comes after a viral video of Igbo traders lamenting bitterly after they were denied registration of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) at Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos state.
Expressing displeasure over the incident, Mr Macaroni in a series of tweets on Thursday condemned the discrimination against the Igbo people, noting that everyone, regardless of tribe was going through hardship.
He called on everyone to eschew tribalism and ethnic bigotry and join hands to improve everyone’s conditions of living.
Mr Macaroni wrote: I have seen different videos of Igbo traders being attacked in Lagos while trying to register for their PVC’s!! We can’t be shouting get your PVC and some people are attacking others while they are trying to do it!! It is wrong and Evil!!! These are the issues!!!!
“Nigerians are suffering!! Igbo, Hausa or Yoruba. Christian or Muslim. We are all going through hardship. So why do we keep using tribalism to fight ourselves instead of joining hands together to fight the cause of this suffering and work towards a better society??
“Every Citizen has the right to collect their PVC and the Igbos are not exempted!!! Stop the oppression!!! Do not Disenfranchise the people!!! Let Us Vote!!!!”
