A memo emerged on Sunday afternoon from the Embassy of Qatar in Lagos confirming that the Qatari government agreed to host the business and investment forum proposed by Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A leaked memo had been circulated on social media on Saturday purportedly saying that the Arab country declined the proposed investment forum. It cited 0the unavailability of the country’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
On their part however, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the presidency have also confirmed that the President’s trip is still on course.
In a statement on Saturday, presidential media aide, Bayo Onanuga, said the state visit will proceed as planned at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
