The Senior Pastor of the Citadel Global Community Church, Tunde Bakare, declared his ambition to be Nigeria’s 16th president on Saturday, April 9.
In 2018, the pastor announced that he is the proverbial ‘Joshua’ that would take Nigeria to the ‘promised land.’
He said that “President Muhammadu Buhari is number 15 and yours sincerely, is number 16... “
Quoting a voice he may have heard that spurred him on to nurse the ambition, Bakare added that, “To this end was I born, and to this purpose came I into the world, I prepared you for this for more than 30 years.”
The Pastor noted that, “That’s why if he (Buhari) wants to run in 2019, I do not oppose. He is still number 15. It’s when he steps out, that I step in.
“His assignment is that of Moses, to take Nigeria to River Jordan but he can’t cross it. It will take a Joshua to go to the other side and begin to distribute the resources to the people of this nation.”
The popular preacher, on Saturday insisted that he remains the best candidate to address the problems affecting Nigeria.
Bakare announced his presidential ambition at the virtual meeting Unveiling Project 16 to Nigerians in diaspora, with the theme: The portrait of a new Nigeria,’ organized by the PTB4Nigeria in diaspora group.
He warned that the south is being set against the north, while Christians are set against Muslims ahead of the 2023 general election.
Expectedly, Nigerians have taken to Twitter to react to Pastor Bakare’s official presidential declaration.
Many mocked his 2023 presidential ambition, a handful of others encouraged him to throw his hat in the ring and rescue the country.
Reactions:
Victor CySec™@Vhicck· Now that Tunde Bakare has finally declared his interest to join the 2023 race, I’m expecting Chris Okotie to do same so that the list of “Usual Suspects” will be complete. #WhereIsChrisOkotie
Z.M. #standwithUkraine@Libra_JK· Clerics who should normally be the voice of reason, criticism or support & counseling but stfu in the midst of terrible pains and hardship.. God doesn’t double mouth like you two timing “men of God”. He told you to be a pastor, then some decades later told you to be president?
