Latest images of legendary Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs have attracted reactions on social media as he as he prepares to turn 80 on the 11 of July, 2022.
A photo shared on various platforms shows that indeed old age has gotten the better of one of Nigeria’s most loved actors.
For decades, the legend graced the Nigerian acting scene, interpreting scripts that run across nearly all tribes.
Celebrating the new milestone, the actor’s picture had the inscription: “A toast to Olu Jacobs 80th Birthday celebration.”
Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known professionally as Olu Jacobs will officially become octogenarian in 1 week.
He is said to be convalescing privately after he was recently hit by old age related ailments, particularly dementia.
A befitting celebration is already being planned for the iconic Nigerian.
His wife of decades, Ajoke Silva dropped a hint about the celebration this morning as she shared a very old picture of the young Oludotun and captioned it: “Who has the foggiest idea who this handsome young man is…#80@Glover Birthday loading…. @thegloverhall
In November 2021, Joke revealed in an interview that her husband has dementia and it has been hard on her and the entire family. “He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with Lewy body, it is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person…first time I’m saying this publicly….that is what we have been dealing…but the thing is, it is hard on him because he doesn’t understand what is going on and it is hard on us family members as well…we have gone through it over the past couple of years but we thank God, ” she said in parts.
The veteran actor turns 80, on Monday, July 11, 2021.
