Rebecca Sharibu, Leah Sharibu’s mother has promised to take any boko haram fighter as son-in-law if it will guarantee the return of her daughter.
Leah turned 17 on Thursday, May 14th. She is also in her 3rd year in the custody of the Islamic insurgents.
She was abducted with 109 of her school mates in February 2018. All her colleagues forcibly denounced their faith and converted to Islam and were set free. She remained adamant, preferring to remain in captivity rather than deny her Christian faith.
It is rumoured that the Boko Haram insurgents have tagged her one of their most priced captives. They are also said to refuse negotiations for her release.
Reports also say that Leah has been married off to one of the terror commanders and has a baby with him.
Rebecca Sharibu and her husband insist they have lost faith in the efforts of government to secure their daughter’s release. According to the aggrieved mother, all claims by the government is a fraud.
For her, “all that matters now is the safe arrival of my precious Leah.”
Rather than lose her child, she prefers Leah returns with her supposed husband and she will gladly accept him as family.
In her words, “you may call him an outlaw, but to me, her husband will be my son. I will take him and treat him as my son-in-law.”
