Retired Justice Mary Odili has bagged a national appointment as a life Bencher.
Equally appointed is Adegboyega Awomolo who emerged as the Vice Chairman of the Body of Benchers as the Body undergoes a transition to a new leadership.
This comes contrary to the letter written by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Yakubu Maikyau to the body, nominating Funke Adekoya to be the Vice Chairman of the body.
Speaking at the event in Abuja, Justice Odili said there was a need for the bar and bench to focus more on the objectives of the body.
Outgoing Chairman Wole Olanipekun called for the unity of the profession and a disregard for people calling for an interim government.
Wole Olanipekun assumed office as the 50th Chairman of the body in March 2022 haven being made the vice chairman on March 30, 2021.
