The #RevoutionNow protests went almost violent today as Nigerian Army, Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) clamped down on youth engaging in the protests in Abuja, Lagos, Oshogbo and across the country.
The weapon wielding security agents were seen forcibly dispersing journalists and protesting groups made mainly of young Nigerians.
Omoyole Sowore who was visibly absent from the protests was represented by Pelumi Olajegbensi.
Olajebgensi called for a change of government and a total overhaul of the country’s polity. He lamented that the federal government has failed to protect Nigerians while insecurity and growing unemployment persist.
According to him:
“There is a need for us as young people who are interested in the future of this country to raise our voices so we can be heard.
“Nigeria is currently in a state of emergency, our country has been reduced to a state of surrender, we cannot continue like this.
Pelumi Olajegbensi lamented the impending economic catastrophe facing young Nigerians in spite of their efforts to improve themselves. According to him,
“Today, we are concerned as young people that a lot of our youths graduate form tertiary institutions and are unemployed because there is no job for them, this has increased the rate of crime in the country.
“Our demand today is for a conscious political revolution, a need for change in leadership.
