Nichole, the daughter of veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo better known as RMD has recounted how she was removed from a project just because she is Nigerian.

This comes after someone shared his own painful experience of being deprived of a job because he was a Nigerian.

According to the Twitter user, Osaretin Asemota said that a friend was going to recommend him for a consulting role in Eswatini, but it didn’t fly because he was a Nigerian.

The Twitter user said there are issues people are quietly keeping in the dark but don’t talk about in the open, noting that Nigerians are not loved across Africa but are feared.

This claim of the wrong perception about Nigerians is unarguably related to the crimes and fraud perpetrated by young people.

The tweet by Osaretin Victor Asemota@asemota: A friend was going to recommend me for a consulting role in Eswatini but because I am Nigerian it didn’t fly. These are issues people quietly keep in the dark but don’t talk about in the open. Nigerians are not loved across Africa. They’re feared and maybe respected but not loved

It is a very complex matter and it doesn’t help when Nigerians rubbish other Nigerians publicly. I may criticize our government but I praise Nigerians who are trying to escape the dysfunction and doing legal work outside. It becomes harder everyday as xenophobia becomes stronger.

Reacting to the tweet, RMD’s daughter Nichole narrated her own regrettable experience.

Nichole Thee Stallion@Nicho0le· “We were removed from a project after kickoff in Africa’s “best” country for being Nigerian.”

Asemota added that: “Nigeria is an open market and the biggest in Africa. Instead of people to try to compete in Nigeria, they protect their own market from Nigerians. Nigeria is a hard place to do business I must also admit but they don’t stop anyone. The planes are full of foreigners coming in.”
