Sadiya Farouq, Nigeria’s Minister of has revealed that 428,941 poor and vulnerable households in Nigeria have so far received the Conditional Cash Transfer CCT.
Out of that number, 130,455 or 30.4% went to Katsina State. The disbursements have however, been concluded in the state.
24 States states were covered in the disbursements.
The Minister added that efforts are being made to capture more vulnerable and poor households in the National Social Register.
Sadiya Farouq gave the information today, 19th April while delivering 3 trucks of rice to Katsina State.
She also revealed that N10,000 TraderMoni loan was given to the state’s citizens who depend on daily income. N5,000 was given to the lower artisans like shoemakers etc.
In her words, “As at April 17th 2020, a total of 428,941 beneficiaries have benefitted from the Conditional Cash Transfer in 24 States with 130,455 of them from Katsina State.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has set up a technical committee to to work with the ministry to expand the National Social Register by 1 million additional households in order to include more vulnerable people whose conditions are at risk as a result of covid-19.”
