Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced palliatives for Lagos residents in a bid to reduce the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.
He said that effective Wednesday, there will be a 50% reduction on Lagos buses.
Sanwo-Olu has also approved a 25% reduction in yellow bus fees, which will be officially announced by their union.
A tweet from the governor’s media aide, Jubril Gawat, read: “FLASH: Governor of Lagos State, Mr @jidesanwoolu has announced Palliatives to cushion the effect of the Fuel subsidy removal: – 50% reduction on Lagos Buses from Wednesday.
“25% reduction in yellow buses fees which will be announced officially by their body.”
Gawat also reports that “Governor @jidesanwoolu also announced the expansion of the Fleet of Staff Buses for the Workers in the Lagos State Public Service to cushion the effect of the Subsidy removal, Mr Governor says the buses are ready and will be deployed thru the HOS office.“
