Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has finally opened up on the Lekki Toll Gate massacre that happened on Tuesday, 20th of October, 2020.
Unarmed Protesters were brutally shot at at close range by heavily armed soldiers wielding pump action rifles.
The lights and CCTV cameras were all turned off while the shooting took place.
Sanwo-Olu spoke in a statement issued on his behalf by the State Commissioner for Information and Strategy., Gbenga Omotosho.
According to him, his administration did not authorise the shooting of protesters.
He added that he had earlier instructed the security operatives not to arrest any of the harmless youths.
Sanwo-Olu said he has ordered and investigation into the incident. He also pleaded with with Lagos State residents to remain law-abiding, calm and not allow Hoodlums hijack a worthy cause.

SHOOTING IN LEKKI
“There have been reports of shooting at the Lekki Toll Plaza, following the 24-hour curfew imposed on Lagos State to stop criminals who hid under the #EndSARS protests to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.
“The State Government has ordered an investigation into the incident. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has advised the security agents not to arrest anyone on account of the curfew, which he urges residents to observe for the peaceful atmosphere we all cherish.
“He advises Lagosians to remain calm and not allow criminals, who have hijacked the noble protest of our gallant youths, to succeed in their evil plan of turning our dear state upside down.
“The Governor will do everything within his power to ensure that the lives of all Lagosians are protected at all times.”
The Governor had earlier in the day, declared a 24-hour curfew in the state.
According to him, the measure was taken clam the built-up tension as hoodlums began attacking innocent protesters and destroying private and public properties.
