Schools and Worship Centres Resumption Dates Announced by Lagos State Governor

Schools and Worship Centre resumption dates have been announced by the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

According to him, mosques will reopen as from the 19th of June while churches will reopen as from June the 21st. He however, cautioned that children below the age of 15 must not be allowed at religious gatherings.

In addition, people above the age of 65 should not be admitted into worship centres until further notice.

Worship services are for now restricted to only Fridays for Muslims and Sundays for Christians.

Conditions listed for worship Centre resumption:
  1. Attendance must be 40% of capacity
  2. No hugging, handshakes, serving of food, or holy communion
  3. No admission for children below 15
  4. No attendance for adults above 65
  5. Worship days are strictly Fridays and Sundays.

The governor added that the decision to reopen schools will be taken in 2 weeks time.

He gave the go ahead for all manufacturing companies to commence operation between 7:00am and 6:00pm.

Sanwo-Olu gave the update in a televised press briefing today, the 4th of June at the government house in Marina, Lagos.

While summing up discussions schools and worship centre resumption dates, he said that, “In 2 weeks’ time, we would make a decision on the reopening of schools. 

Lagos State has 5,440 confirmed cases of #COVID19 infections since the outbreak of the disease. 878 people have recovered from the disease while 67 have died.
