Schools will not reopen just yet according to the Federal Ministry of Eduction. The announcement was made by the Director of Press, Ben Goong, yesterday, 12th April.
Debunking rumours that schools will resume shortly, Goong said there was no such directive from the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
According to him, the stay at home order will continue to apply to schools in line with the directive of the federal government. This will enable the nation curb the spread of the coronavirus disease.
He advised that parents, students and the general public should disregard the fake news as schools will not reopen just yet.
In his words, “On the issue of reopening of schools, the ministry has not directed the reopening of any school at any level. The purported press release by the minister to that effect is a clear forgery as it did not emanate from the minister.
“Parents, students and the general public are advised to please disregard the fake news. There is also another story making the rounds that the Federal Government has blamed the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities on vice-chancellors. At no time did any federal government official make any such statement.
“Any insinuation in that direction is simply emanating from the futile imagination of the author and the ministry has nothing whatsoever to do with it.
“Stakeholders and indeed the general public should disregard such statement. Stay at home, stay safe.
“Let’s work from home like I’m doing.
“Only the living can work or worship,” Goong added.
