A driver who slept off while driving on New Year’s eve had his car somersault several times on Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase 1.
The young man narrated to a passerby who came to his rescue that he was saved because he had strapped up his seat belt.
Odega Shawa narrated that he was, himself, on his way from the hospital when he saw the accident.
He stated that many people have been driving long hours this season and advised that they find somewhere to park and catch some sleep before resuming their journey.
According to Odega Shawa, “Coming back from the hospital a few minutes ago, on Admiralty Way, the young man in white tee-shirt said to me: ‘I fell asleep. My seat belt saved my life.’Lots of long hours driving this period.
“Be careful. Always have your seat belt on. If you feel sleepy, park somewhere and doze – and get a chewing gum.“
