Some senior students of a secondary school in Rivers State have been arrested over an alleged classroom romance.
The 4 students of the Community Secondary School in Nkpolu Oroworukwo, in Mile Diobu, Port Harcourt, were apprehended after a video clip of their dirty act was leaked by one of their classmates.
Reports had it that the students entangled themselves in erotic acts in an isolated classroom within the school premises, but unknown to them that they were being recorded.
The other who took record of the scenes reportedly shared the coverage with a fellow student through WhatsApp who in turn broadcasted it, thereby drawing the attention of other students.
The school management subsequently got wind of the event when a male teacher stumbled on the video on the phone of one of the students. He then transferred the video to his own device.
The school management is said to have been miffed upon learning about event and immediately invited the police from the Nkpolu Divisional Police headquarters in Mile, Port Harcourt. The security operatives proceeded to arrest two of the students involved in the love triangle.
Also arrested were a male student who took the video and another to whom the video was transferred.
A parent of one of the arrested students, who did not want her name in print for fear of being stigmatised, confirmed the incident to The PUNCH but declined further comments.
On her part, when contacted by the news platform, the Principal of the School, Patience Nwachukwu, expressed sadness over the situation, saying the affected students were a bad influence and that such behaviour could not be condoned.
She said, “Those children are a bad influence, and we can’t condone that. After now, they will have to be expelled from the school.
“I will still have to get to my boss to report and tell them the action I intend to take. But that is what I think is the best because if they go unpunished tomorrow, others will join, and nothing will happen.”
A Human Rights Group, the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, is said to have been informed of the incident by a parent of one of the arrested students.
