A team of various security operatives, today, Friday, stormed the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos ahead of a planned Yoruba group rally.
The security operatives comprise the police, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Task Force and the Lagos Neighbourhood Security Watch (LNSC).
Groups of the operatives are stationed at strategic points to ensure that no rally takes place.
Anti-riot equipments comprising water cannons, vans, Black Maria and armoured RRS tanks were sighted at park.
There is heavy build-up at Ojota and environs currently due to road blocks mounted around a couple of joints by the security personnel. The situation that has been worsened by the heavy rainfall that has not abated since morning.
The police is said to have received information that a non-governmental organisation, Yoruba Appraisal Forum (YAF) had planned a peaceful rally for today, Friday, 16th of July.
Reports also say that the Lagos State Police Command warned the group against holding any such rally in the state, citing an upsurge in Covid19 infections.
