Senate Makes Request to Buhari About Ajimobi

The Nigerian Senate has made a fresh request to President Muhammadu Buhari regarding the former Governor of Oyo State, Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

Reports say their request follows a motion moved by Senator Abdulfatahi Buhari and seconded by Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

The motion which was adopted by the house is a request for the president to rename the Ibadan Airport after Late Senator Abiola Ajimobi.

In addition to the Senate request about Ajimobi, the lawmakers also resolved to send a high power delegation to Oyo State with a view to commiserating with the family of the deceased senator. The delegation will, in addition, pay a condolence visit to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde and condole with the people of the state.

They honoured Late Senator Ajimobi with a minute silence.
Born 16th December 1949, Senator Ajimobi was the Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria.
He was an Alliance for Democracy (AD) Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, 2003 -2007.
He became 2-time Governor of Oyo State from 2011 to 2019 and is the very first governor of the state to occupy the position twice.
In June 2019, Ajimobi contracted the coronavirus and died of complications from the ailment on 25th June.
