Senator Abdullahi Adamu Emerges New APC National Chairman

 Former Nasarawa State Governor and currently, the Nasarawa West lawmaker, Senator Abdullahi Adamu has been officially declared as the new national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was affirmed by the delegates using a voice system at Saturday’s national convention which held at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

Senator Adamu had earlier emerged as the consensus candidate of the APC for the national chairmanship position after every other aspirant stepped down for him a few hours before the convention commenced.

He is known to be President Muhammadu Buhari’s anointed candidate.

Adamu was later declared the winner by Muhammadu Badaru, the Jigawa State Governor who is the returning officer for the exercise.

Some other candidates that emerged through the consensus method and were announced by Badaru after voice confirmations include: Abubakar Kyari who returned as deputy national chairman (north) and Jamal Kabir, deputy national youth leader.

The tenure of Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has officially come to an end with the emergence of a new National Working Committee (NWC),

The CECPC had been in charge of party affairs since June 2020 when the Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC was removed.
