Senator Natasha Akpoti, representing Kogi Central, has welcomed former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi’s recent clarification regarding allegations made on the Senate floor.

The controversy erupted when Senator Cyril Fasuyi (Ekiti North) claimed during Senate proceedings that Senator Akpoti had previously made false harassment allegations against Fayemi during his tenure as Minister of Mines and Steel. Senator Fasuyi suggested that this history called into question Sen. Akpoti’s credibility as a petitioner in current Senate matters.

Responding through her official social media accounts, Senator Akpoti directly challenged Fasuyi’s claims, writing: “Thank you His Excellency Kayode Fayemi for speaking the truth. My activity during his time as a minister was strictly an advocacy to revive Ajaokuta Steel Company. Shame unto Senator Cyril Fasuyi for lying against me right in the hallowed chambers while quoting the Bible. Indeed, God is patient.”

Governor Fayemi in a statement made by the Head Of the Fayemi Media Office has expressed the desire that he doesn’t want to drawn into the recent controversy in the floor of the Senate. He argued that his disagreement with Senator Natasha back then were strictly professional and based on divergent policy perspectives and not personal grievances.

In another video, Senator Natasha was seen making reference to a Minister who refused to employ her because of her beauty as she would become a distraction to him. She did not however, mention the name of the minister.
