A retired senior military officer with the Nigerian Airforce has allegedly been murdered by a group of unknown gunmen on Monday night.
Air Vice Marshal Mohammed Maisaka was killed along with his orderly at about 10:00pm when the gunmen invaded his home in Makarfi, Rigasa ward in Kaduna State.
Until his death, the officer was said to be the Proprietor and Managing Director of MSK Hospital, a private health institution in Kaduna.
He was also a former Director, Medical Training operation at the Defence Headquarters.
Nigerian military is yet to release a statement on the tragic incident as at the time of filing this report.
However, news of the death of the Maisaka and his driver was made known by one of his sons who sent a message on social media on Tuesday saying that, “Innalilahi wa innailaihir raijun… please say a prayer for my Dad (Air Vice Marshal Maisaka). He was assassinated at his residence yesterday (Monday) alongside his orderly.”
Another source said that Maisaka was killed with his grandson.
According to Usman Abdulhamid,
“Innalillahi wa Inna ilaihirraju’un it is with deep pain we announce the death of Air Vice Marshall Mohammed Maisaka (Dr) and his grand son whom were killed by unknown Gun men in his resident in Rigasa.
“Until his death, Doctor was part of those whom believed in Rigasa and accept to bring developmental project in the community.The popular MSK Specialist Hospital, Makarfi Road, Rigasa Kaduna is one.
“May Allah expose the perpetrators.May Allah forgive your shortcomings Sir. RIJF.“
The late Airforce General is said to be one of the finest neurologists in the country before he took ill and travelled to India a few months ago.
A family source who pleaded for anonymity disclosed that his killing might not be unconnected with the ongoing banditry in the country where he was seen in his community as a shield.
‘Yes you know our community has been subjected to series of attacks by the bandits. But while he was alive he tried his best to thwart their onslaught on several occasions. They were not happy, source added
