Separated by Religion, United by Palliative – Ex-Senator Shehu Sani

Separated by religion but united by palliative is likely to become a trending phrase in the coming days.

It was also the way Senator Shehu Sani described the scenes at both cities.

This more so as Kaduna and Jos have seen massive vandalisation and looting of warehouses for the better part of Saturday.

The same incident played out in many major cities across Nigeria.

It would appear that the entire residents of Jos trooped out all at once to storm a massive warehouse loaded with palliatives.

People were on the roof tops trying to break in while others tried to pull down the walls and the gates.

The development caused a massive traffic build up on all major and feeder roads.

The situation was the same in Kaduna where the governor was compelled to impose a 24 hour curfew on the state.

Both cities have been separated by religion, communal and ethnic difference causing fierce wars on some occasions.

However, today, the differences were put aside as is the case with football matches between Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles and foreign countries.

Hungry masses hurdled together, helping each other get free supplies from the storehouses.

Kaduna State government curfew has been slammed on areas most affected by the looting.

The curfew:

KADUNA UPDATE: The Kaduna State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on parts of Chikun and Kaduna South LGAs.

The curfew areas are Barnawa, Kakuri and Television in Kaduna South LGA and Maraban Rido, Sabon Tasha, Narayi and Ungwan Romi of Chikun LGA.
