Seven Women Die in Niger State Salon

The police in Niger State has launched an investigation to unravel circumstances surrounding the death of seven women in a salon in the State.

Abiodun Wasiu, spokesperson for Niger State Police Command confirmed that the incident occurred in Riga Local Government Area of the state.

Wasiu revealed that the seven women spent the night in the salon making their hair for the salad celebrations. The owner of the salon is reported to have brought her electric generator into the salon when it was getting dark. This led to the victims inhaling the fumes and choking to death.

The incident which took place on Thursday involved two married women and 5 others.

According to the police spokesman,

“On 31/07/2020, at about 8:51hours, information was received that about seven dead bodies of ladies aged between 12-22 years were discovered at Afresh Beauty Salon along  Bama-Rijau Road in Rijau.

“The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the General Hospital in Tunga Magajia for autopsy while investigation to unravel the cause of the incident is ongoing.

This morning however, the remains of the deceased are reported to have been buried already according to Islamic rites.

The state police command has advised residents to to be more careful with electric generators to avoid fatalities.
