The National President of the Association of Southeast Town Unions, Emeka Diwe has described the recent shoot-at-sight order given by the Inspector-General of Police as a declaration of genocide against the Igbos.
Diwe made the declaration during an interview with Daily Post saying that the directive by the IGP is only effective in the Eastern part of the country where hundreds are killed weekly.
According to him, “The order is an official declaration of genocide against the Igbos. If you look at what is happening in the Southeast and how our farmers are butchered by the Fulani herders daily, then you will know what I’m saying.
“They plan to continue killing our youths so that there will be no one left to face them again. Because they believe the country is their inheritance.”
Diwe berated the leaders in the region for not speaking up against the happenings. He added that the recent decision by the leaders of the Southeast and South-South calling for the integration of the zone in mainstream politics is belated.
Diwe condemned leaders in the region for not speaking up against the development.
He added that the security challenges in the region was evidence of the marginalisation it is subjected to and asked for an unbiased distribution of power and resources among Nigeria’s federating units.
