Ann Kio Briggs, a politician, environmentalist and human rights activist from Rivers State has described the status of the 27 lawmakers in the State led by Martin Amaewhule
In a video shared by Channels TV, Briggs said that after the lawmaker defected from PDP to APC, President Tinubu referred to them as his “children”.
She argued that the lawmakers lost their seats when they joined the APC, and they should only be recognized as lawmakers if they run for election again in the future and win their seats through the proper electoral process.
In Briggs words: “The president claimed the 27 lawmakers that abandoned their constituents and went over to APC. He referred to them in a meeting as his children, therefore we will not accept them back as lawmakers. They are not lawmakers. They will become lawmakers when they run for election whenever INEC decides it will conduct election and they contest and win”
