Singer Portable Remanded in Prison Pending Bail

Street singer Habeeb Okikiola better known as Portable has been remanded in Ilaro Prison pending fulfillment of his bail condition.

The controversial artiste was arraigned today by the Ogun state police before a Magistrate Court after which he was granted bail.

Daily Trust reports that the singer was however, remanded at Ilaro Prison pending the time he fulfils his bail condition.

The Magistrate Court granted him a bail of N300,000, with two sureties from his immediate family.

The Ogun State Police Command arraigned Portable on a 3-count charge bothering on alleged assault and theft of musical equipment.

The state police command on Friday arrested the singer after refusing to show up after the 72-hour ultimatum given to him by the police to turn himself in.

The spokesman of the command, Muyiwa Adejobi on Saturday said portable has more than six charges to attend to, apart from resisting arrest and injuring a policeman.

He said, “He will be charged to court for beating up a guy in Ota, who filed a petition to CP Ogun.

“There are many pending cases of assaults on people and attacks, and he will be investigated because people have complained against him.

“So, there is no sentiment in law, let him appear in court, and allow the judge to listen to the charges against him. He has no constitutional immunity anyway.“
