The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo has offered Onyeka Onwenu, Charley Boy, Bianca Ojukwu appointments in his quest to reach an amicable dialogue with the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
All the listed appointees are members of a 15-member Truth, Justice and Peace Commission to stop the activities of IPOB.
The announcement is contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu.
The Truth, Justice and Peace Commission will be headed by human rights activist, Prof Chidi Odinkalu with Amb Bianca Ojukwu as Secretary.
The statement highlights that the committee will:
- Seek a restorative justice approach for truth-telling or real facts, for the healing of the victims of the violence
- Account for responsibility and accountability of the actors
- Conditional mercy for the repentant perpetrators
- Restitution for certain losses and rehabilitation of the perpetrators, for the overall aim of restoration of peace and justice
- Promotion of development in the State, and the region/Nigeria.
Soludo gave the commission a six-month timeline to conclude the assignment from the date of inauguration.
The dats for the inauguration of the committee has however, not been announced.
