Aminu Mohammed, the final year student of the Federal University, Dutse who was arrested over a tweet directed at Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari has told her that it was not his intension to hurt her feelings.
The final year student of of the Federal University, Dutse said in his twitter post that Mrs Buhari was feeding fat on poor people’s money.
He was subsequently apprehended by the Nigerian Police Force and arraigned before the FCT High Court No. 14.
However, the First Lady on Friday withdrew the case against the student following unrelenting backlash from many Nigerians on social media.
Her prosecution counsel, Fidelis Ogbobe, said the withdrawal followed the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians.
Taking to his Twitter page on Sunday, Mohammed stated that he did not intend to hurt the feelings of the First Lady
He wrote, ”I would also like to use this medium to express my heartfelt gratitude toward those that helped me go through the darkest hours of my life, man cannot escape his destiny but my incidence should serve as a lesson to all of us. Thank you all and one love.
”I would like to use this medium to express my sincere apologies to those I’ve hurt especially our mother, Aisha Buhari. It was never my intention to hurt your feelings and insha Allah I will change for the better. However, I’m also grateful for your forgiveness, thank you mama.”
