Sosoliso Airline Chairman, Chief Victor Ikwuemesi has died of coronavirus.

Family sources say he died in a London hospital on after he was diagnosed with the killer disease. He was initially admitted into intensive care (ICU) in the yet to be identified hospital.

Reports say his condition was rather bad as he had difficulty breathing. Chief Ikuemesi was then put on oxygen. He died shortly afterwards.

The Sosoliso Airline Chairman was a Chartered Accountant and entrepreneur. He set up the Airline in 2000 to run domestic routes within Nigeria. Unfortunately, one of the aircrafts from Abuja crash-landed at the Port Harcourt International Airport on the 10th of December 2005 killing all 110 but 2 passengers.

Chief Ikwemesi was an indigene of Ogidi in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State. He is reported to have contributed to the reopening of airline travel to and from the South East with the advent of democratic rule in 1999.

His aircrafts flew mainly from the Enugu and Owerri airports to other parts of the country. Notwithstanding the tragedy that befell his aircraft, the 2 airports have remained functional thanks to his foresight.

It is uncertain what plans his state and family may have for his burial considering considering the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Besides, airports around the world are closed. In addition, the UK government is not likely to authorise the transport of corpses arising from covid-19.

Nigerians and Easterners mourn the passing of an illustrious citizen.
