World

Media personality and travel blogger, Tayo Aina and his fans have called out the South African authorities for using his video to promote the country’s tourism potential without his permission.

The advert is said to be running at the South African consulate in New York City.

Aina said this is also happening after the SA authorities denied him visa in spite of holding his passport for 4 months.

Posting his grievance on his confirmed Twitter page, he said, “South Africa denied my visa application after holding my passport for 4 months but are now using my video to do promo at the NYC consulate. Interesting times.

Reactions:

FibroWarrior @navuyo·The audacity! They use his video to promote SA travel. But he’s not welcome back into the country.

FibroWarrior @navuyo·Replying to @tayoainafilms@ClaysonMonyela these are the frustrating things about SA. And Tayo isn’t even some dodgy figure. He’s simply making travel vlogs that would get people coming to SA. Hayi people, please stop doing this to African travelers.

Rnald Sing @singo27·Replying to @tayoainafilms and @NyathiZaneIt’s really crazzy that they denied you a visa, Nigerians are known only for positive things in South Africa, you need to query that decision.

baron357_@BaronAdj·Replying to @tayoainafilms@Julius_S_Malema@EFFSouthAfrica see what your diplomats are doing? This is a guy who literally showcase South Africa for free. I can’t wrap my head around why he should be denied and still ‘use’ him. Ubhuti wami, Africa is not ready. @CyrilRamaphosa@PresidencyZA should know.
