Former Member of the House of Representatives, Adamu Garba, has stated that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East do not deserve the right to senate presidency as they recorded less than 2% of votes in the presidential election.
Adamu Garba stressed that during the 2023 general elections, Orji Uzor Kalu of the APC got 47,000 votes in Abia State Senatorial District Election which got him back to the Senate. However, APC only got 8,000 votes in presidential election in the entire Abia State.
Speaking with Arise News crew, Garba believes that Orji Uzor Kalu should not be asking APC to make him the senate president because he only worked hard to get 47,000 votes for his Senatorial ambition, but could not get an equivalent vote for Bola Tinubu in Abia State.
The former lawmaker added that senators from Kano State should be considered for the position of the senate president so that APC can win back Kano State in coming elections.
Adamu Garba said: “In last election, SE gave just APC 1.5% of the total votes for the Presidency, SS gave 8.7%, but the NW gave us 30% of the total votes , a staggering 1/3! Heading toward 2027, I think it’ll be suicidal for our party to not zone Senate President position go to the North West.”
