Omoyele Sowore is alleged to have been injured and arrested last night as himself and a group of activists involved in the #CrossoverWithProtest procession on New year’s eve.
Reports say the protest was meant to be carried out nationwide but Sowore and some of the participants were arrested in Abuja during the procession to usher in the new year 2021.
Further reports say they were rounding up the match when about seven loads of Nigerian Security forces, the Rapid Response Squad arrived and arrested all participants in sight.
Sowore is said to have been injured during the raid at the Gudu junction in Abuja. All participants were taken to the Abattoir police station, Lokogama.
His staff at Sahara Reporters say they have not been able to reach the activists as their phones switched of.
Prior to the #CrossoverWithProtest match, Sowore had tweeted:
