St Francis Catholic Church located, Owo in Ondo State reopened for religious activities on Easter Sunday, April 9, about ten months after it was attacked by terrorists.
Heavily armed gunmen attacked the church on June 5, 2022 and killed some of the worshippers while sustained life-threatening injuries.
The governor of the state, Rotimi Akeredolu, visited the scene to commiserate with the church and the entire town.
Relief materials and funds were donated to victims and families of those who lost their loved ones.
In March 2023, Akeredolu disclosed that the construction of a memorial park in honour of the victims of the attack has begun.
The governor of the state is an indigene of the town and is said to regularly worship in the Church.
