A former Independent Director at First Bank of Nigeria, Olusola Oworu has been appointed to the Board of Sterling Bank as an Independent Non-Executive Director.
Oworu was also former Special Adviser on Commerce & Industry to ex-Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola.
The bank revealed this in a statement released to the capital market authority, NGX, on Wednesday.
The Central Bank of Nigeria had axed Oworu as a board member of First Bank in April 2021, during a faceoff between the firm and CBN over unauthorized appointments and dismissals.
Oworu’s appointment is a return to the company she used to work for when Sterling Bank was known as NAL Merchant Bank.
Sterling Bank also appointed Olatunji Mayaki as Non-Executive Director.
Mayaki is currently the Executive Management Consultant at Welton Energy/Addax Petroleum Development Nigeria Ltd.
Sterling wrote in the statement, “Mayaki has over 35 years of experience in Corporate Law, Banking & Finance, Asset and Wealth Management and the Upstream Oil and Gas Business.”
Sterling Bank Plc, which is a full service national commercial bank is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
