The case involving Chidinma Ojukwu who is alleged to have murdered Usifo Ataga, the Super TV Boss, has been stalled after a new revelation was made by the defence counsel.
The defence counsel is said to have poked some holes in the evidence supplied by the prosecution during Tuesday’s trial.
Chidinma is the 300 level student of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos who is accused of murdering her lover, Usifo Ataga.
She was arraigned with Adebayo Quadri and Chioma Egbuchu all of whom pleaded not guilty to a 9-count charge at the last sitting. The presiding judge, Justice Yetunde Adesanya had adjourned the case to today, 9th of November.
At the opening of the trial in the Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square Annex, the counsel for the second defendant, Babatunde Busari stated that the evidence made available to him by the prosecution was not legible and a video clip which was part of the evidence also not audible.
The case was subsequently adjourned to Thursday, 11th of November to give the prosecution time to make the relevant adjustments.
Chidinma and Quadri are alleged to been responsible for the planned murder of Ataga on the 15th of June, 2021.
Chidinma initially confessed to stabbing the billionaire business man multiple times on the neck with a kitchen knife while they were both under the influence of hard drugs and alcohol.
She also stated that she left the scan with his ATM card and other valuables. The UNILAG student added that she murdered him in self defence as he tried to have s*x with her against her wish.
Ojukwu’s sister, Chioma Egbuchu was, on her part arrested after the phone of the late Ataga was found in her possession.
