Pictures of suspected victims of the catastrophe that befell the 21-storey building which collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos State on Monday have started to emerge.
While many of those who were in the building at the time accident are still trapped within its ruins, some have been rescued alive while others are still in hospital receiving treatment for various degrees of injuries.
Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, 4th of November, the Co-ordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye said that the death toll had risen from 22 on Wednesday to 36 by Thursday while a total of 9 people were pulled out alive.
The identities of some of the people who were at the site at the time of the tragedy have been released.
While some are still beneath the rubbles, others who narrowly escaped death have narrated their story.
Innocent Xylvestre Danavide:
Innocent is a bricklayer who celebrated his escape from death. He glorified God for sparing his life. Sharing his story, he noted that he was working on the 12th floor of the building but stepped out to order more plaster and sand because they exhausted their supply.
It was at that time that the edifice came crashing down.
Onyinye Enekwe:
26-year-old Onyinye Enekwe is among those suspected to still be trapped beneath the rubbles of the collapsed building.
A soon-to-be bride who was newly employed in the Four Scores Home project, her family and friends remain optimistic and prayerful that she would be brought home alive.
She is said to have gone to the site with the management of the project when it crumbled.
Onyinye’s family enjoined Nigerians to join them in prayers as they believe that God will bring her out alive.
Wale Bob Oseni:
Wale Bob-Oseni is an American-bound real estate dealer and Executive Director of African Bureau for Legislative Empowerment.
He is said to still be in beneath the collapsed pillars of the unfortunate mansion.
A driver had wept profusely in a viral video where he stated that he was to take Wale to to the airport before the accident occurred.
Bob-Oseni is said to have stopped by to see the owner of the 21-story building, Femi Osibona who is said to be his close friend and associate when the building allegedly collapsed on them.
Publisher of Ovation magazine and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu who was close friends with both of them described them as his ‘aburos’ (younger friends/brothers).
Femi Osibona:
Osibona is said to be the owner of the luxury 21-storey mansion. The project was touted to be on the verge of being the first of its kind in Nigeria.
A native of Ikenne, Ogun State, he is suspected to still be under the rubbles 48 hours after.
Zainab Sanni:
Zainab is a 25-year-old female NYSC member working with Four Score Homes, the company in charge of the unfortunate building.
Mrs Anjorin, her mother was told by food vendors at the site that her daughter entered the building after buying lunch just a few minutes before it went down.
Others are Pastor Ola Ogunfuwa, a project concentrator who was inside the house with 22 of his artisans comprising bricklayers and welders.
None of them has been seen since the tragedy, reports say.
There are no confirmed reports of the number people within the 21-storey building but reports estimate that they can be no less than 50.
