The terrorists seen in a viral video, brutally flogging the kidnapped victims of the Abuja-Kaduna train attack have given reasons for their action.
The bandits said they subjected the kidnapped victims to the violent torture because of their failure to give them ransoms in exchange for some of the captives.
A video showing terrorists flogging victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attack surfaced online on Sunday morning.
They also threatened to kidnap and kill President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State.
The gunmen in the video also boasted that they would destroy the country, kill the remaining passengers in their custody and sell out the others.
One of the terrorists could be heard threatening to turn the area into an abattoir unless the Muhammadu Buhari-led government complied with their demands.
He also accused the federal government of lying about a negotiation committee and plotting to forcefully free the captives.
Daily Trust on its part, reports that the terrorists were angered by the action of the security officials who turned away the families of the victims that had come to pay ransom for their loved ones.
It was learned that the families of the victims have agreed to a specific amount for ransom and also the terrorists have agreed to release another batch of the victims before the security officials blocked the deal.
A victim filmed in the video clip, Mukhtar Shuaibu, confirmed the terrorists’ disenchantment over the blockade of the ransom.
“We don’t know what offence we have committed to the government of this country. We were born in this country. We have been here for 120 days, yet the government has been unable to rescue us. What is our offence to this country? Some of us were to be released recently but security agents blocked the access and refused to let our relatives come for us,” he said.
As at the last count, no less than 20 of the 60 kidnapped victims have been released in batches after they each paid a ransom of N100m while over 40 victims remain in captivity.
